Like virtually every high-end diamond retailer, Northern Carbon exclusively sources diamonds from Surat, India, the global capital of diamond processing for more than six decades. Thus, all M-series diamond plates are products of Surat. Northern Carbon’s connections to the best Indian processing houses are two generations deep.

Firooz is a co-founder of a number of CVD diamond product companies including Group4 Labs and P1 diamond and the former head of CVD thermal products at Element Six/De Beers. Firooz has a PhD in Materials Science from USC.

Northern Carbon is the commercial manifestation of Michael’s inventions. Michael received the original patent on diamond for cooling computer chips. He is the founder of Crystallume, the first venture funded CVD diamond company with a successful IPO in 1994.
Michael, a former Caltech undergrad, got a PhD in Neurophysiology from University of California at Santa Cruz and a JD from Cal.
